Professor James Nickel (University of Miami) visits PluriCourts on 28 September - 2 October 2015. He is one of five permanent PluriCourts Research Fellows and contributes substantively to the research under the MultiRights project.

Although Human Rights Education (HRE) has taken root in most countries in Asia, there is a wide range of issues that needs to be addressed regarding HRE both in Asia and in Europe.

This project explores the nexus between poverty and human rights from an international legal perspective.

The project addresses constitutional and institutional issues in the political theory of human rights and asks questions like: How could we resolve the value conflict between human rights and democracy, and at what costs? And: Should and could international human rights institutions be reformed in order to achieve a more desirable institutional design?

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and the Research Group on Human Rights, Armed Conflicts, and the Law of Peace and Security welcome you to a conference on international, regional and national efforts towards ensuring the abolition of the death penalty. The NCHR and partners recently organized a conference presenting two reports, focusing on the existing curricula on human rights at Bulgarian universities, and the introduction of human rights in mandatory legal curriculum in Bulgaria.

On 22 June the Research Group on Human Rights and Sustainable Development and the International Department at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights organized an internal seminar on the report titled “Understanding and mitigating social risks to sustainable development in China's BRI- Evidence from Nepal and Zambia.” The report was published by the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in April 2021 and can be found here.

LEGINVEST and PluriCourts, in collaboration with Monash University and the Minerva Center for Human Rights at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, are organizing an international symposium on the legitimacy and increasingly important role for international investment law and arbitration in the protection of international human rights.
