The Centre on Experiential Legal Learning (CELL) is a resource center for the development of new teaching and assessment methods, experimentation with technology in learning, and collaboration between working life and academia.
The center was established in 2018 as the Faculty of Law's commitment to the development of legal education. In 2019, the center was awarded the status as a Center of Excellence in Education (SFU) by the Directorate of Higher Education.
CELL is very keen to include students in the planning and development of legal education. Students are part of the center's management, and CELL works to ensure that students also teach to a greater extent.
CELL is now seeking a new student leader for the ongoing collaboration with the Master of Theory and Practice in Human Rights (HUMR) at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights. The position is part-time, 20%, and the focus is especially on the following areas:
- Development of other areas of potential reform and experimental teaching on the HUMR programme.
- Contribute to educational meetings at HUMR.
- HUMR student advocacy project in collaboration with Scholars at Risk (high priority).
- If relevant mentoring and training of learning assistants.
- Coordination with CELL’s student team on cross-faculty projects.
As a student leader, you will contribute to leading CELL's work in these specific areas. All CELL projects have one student leader and one academic leader, and we strive for a four-way collaboration that also includes administrative staff and educators. You will work closely with these groups in the projects.
You will assist with ongoing tasks of both a professional and practical nature. These tasks can include:
- Collaboration with others in your projects at NCHR, and with the management team and others in CELL in developing work. This may, for example, involve the preparation of notes, reports, articles, online resources and language washing.
- Attendance at joint meetings, preparation of an overview of study cases, making contributions to cases and developing work.
- Communication, publishing on social media, work on publishing teaching experiences on NCHR’s and CELL's website.
- Contribute to the pedagogical development work at NCHR and the faculty, lectures and dissemination at conferences, article and article writing, interviews in the media and other arenas.
- Practical assistance for NCHR and CELL, including at events.
Qualification requirements and characteristics
We are looking for a student who wants to participate in developing the study programs at the Faculty of Law.
- You must have completed course HUMR 4504 in Human Rights Practice.
- You are independent, creative, service-oriented, flexible and hard-working.
- You are outgoing, have good collaboration skills and like to work with project work.
- You have good written and oral communication skills in English and preferably Norwegian.
- You are interested in teaching, and are interested in different types of teaching methods. It is also an advantage if you have experience from courses that have used experience-based teaching.
The position is temporary and for up to one year. Accession by agreement.
We offer a salary as a professional consultant (SKO 0389) in salary steps 35–37 depending on seniority, which corresponds to NOK 414 200–423 300 per year in a 100% position.
