On the 7th December the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights hosted the Annual seminar on business and human rights as a part of the Oslo Peace Days. The annual seminar on business and human rights gives an opportunity for all stakeholders to come together and discuss the business and human rights field. This year, the panel was represented by academia, government, and civil society.

On 8.-12. November, a training workshop on the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Mechanisms took place in Geneva, Switzerland. Over the week, five participants from Thailand deepened their knowledge of the UN Human Rights Mechanisms, focusing on the Universal Periodic Review.

On November 20, 2021, the seminar "Business and Human Rights in the Chinese National Human Rights Action Plan" was held in Guangzhou. The seminar was co-organized by the Research Institute for Human Rights at Guangzhou University and Wuhan University in China.

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and the Rafto Foundation welcomes you to a lecture with Patrick Ball, looking at the role of data and statistics in truth commissions and tribunals. Ball is the Director of Research at the Human Rights Data Analysis Group, who won the Rafto Human Rights Prize 2021.

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and the Research Group on Human Rights, Armed Conflicts, and the Law of Peace and Security welcome you to a conference on international, regional and national efforts towards ensuring the abolition of the death penalty. This conference will be an integral part of the Oslo Peace Days 2021 and feature the participation of various renowned speakers who will convene to take stock of the developments in the area of the abolition of the death penalty over the last years. Registration required (link below).

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) and the Centre for Human Rights (CHR) at the University of Pretoria recently received funding for a new collaborative project, entitled “Fostering research-based education through academic mobility and measuring the domestic impact of core human rights treaties”.

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) and the Human Rights Fund (NHRF) are organizing the exhibition "CHANGING THE NARRATIVE". It focuses on human rights defenders and their role as actors of change. The exhibition will be displayed on the 3rd floor of Domus Juridica, November 1-12, and is open for all.

The Raoul Wallenberg Institute, the Norwegian Center for Human Rights, Åland Islands Peace Institute, and Galaxy Fund recently carried out a project on "SDG and human rights localization". It examines how local authorities and civil society organizations can cooperate in human rights localization processes, where local and subnational contexts are included and considered when implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To mark the International Women’s Day on Monday 8 March, the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) would like to point to our Chinese partners important work towards gender equality in China. Raising awareness about domestic violence in China, contributing to better education on gender and human rights in Chinese universities and publication of the first Chinese textbook on gender and human rights are some of the achievements our Chinese partners have made with the support of the NCHR.
