Global level of poverty declining?
Issues to be discussed concern whether the global level of poverty is declining, and how we may know this through measurements sometimes identified as part of the problem.
How can human rights approaches contribute in creating more effective responses to combating poverty and inequality? In addition, how is the COVID-19 pandemic affecting poverty levels.
With such complicated and inter-related challenges a diverse panel therefore brings together politicians, academics and civil society, with keynote address of Prof. Philip Alston, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty until April 2020.

- Dag-Inge Ulstein, Minister of International Development at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Morten Jerven, Professor in Development Studies at the Norwegian University of Social Sciences and Visiting Professor in Economic History at Lund University.
- Liv Tørres, Director of the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, hosted by the Center on International Cooperation at New York University.
The event will be hosted by Professor Peris Sean Jones, co-coordinator for the Human Rights and Sustainable Development Research Group, Faculty of Law, UiO. The webinar will be held in English.
