Legal perspectives on technology innovation in the energy sector

The Natural Resources Law group of the Faculty of Law, UiO, is pleased to invite you to a seminar reviewing some current legal issues related to technology innovation in the energy sector, combining business and academic perspectives.

This seminar will feature three presentations followed by a panel discussion.

Per Sandberg, Senior advisor in charge of Energy Systems at Statoil Research & Technology, will present Statoil’s innovation strategy and reflect on some of the current challenges in the field.

Patricia Park, Professor Emerita in Environmental and Energy Law, Visiting Lecturer at Cass Business School, City University London, UK, will discuss technology innovation, intellectual property rights and competition law.

Catherine Banet, Ass. Prof. at the Faculty of Law, UiO, will question the recent return to techno-nationalism in the context of energy transition, taking the example of offshore wind technologies. Her presentation will focus on the World Trade Organization discipline applicable to national trade-restrictive measures as well as recent global technology diffusion initiatives.

The seminar is organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Law research group for Markets, Innovations and Competition.
