Effects and implications of the pandemic for students
2020 has been marked by uncertainty and change. The detrimental effects and implications of the pandemic have been especially noticeable for the more than 15,000 foreign students studying at Norwegian institutions, and the similar number of Norwegian students studying abroad. Despite Norway lifting some of its entry restrictions for students from 1 July, a number of challenges remain for international students seeking to enter the country to study this semester, and for Norwegian students who wish to study abroad.
The first webinar in the series aims to address some of these issues and discuss the substantial impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on international student mobility. What were the immediate consequences of the pandemic for international student mobility and how have they evolved throughout the year? What does the pandemic mean for the future of international student mobility and how can students and institutions adapt to these changes?
Panel participants:
- Morgan Alangeh, President of the Association of Norwegian Students Abroad
- Joachim Børlie, International Responsible at the Norwegian Student Organisation
- Hilde Haaland-Kramer, Head of Section for Global Cooperation at the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education
- Peris Sean Jones, Director of the international Masters programme on the Theory and Practice of Human Rights at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights
The panel discussion will be hosted by Eduardo Sánchez Madrigal, research assistant at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights. The webinar will be held in English.
