The key role of the sustainable leading company in the global supply chains

Presentation by our guest researcher Maria Chiara Marullo, Postdoctor, Jaume University, Spain.

Globalization of production and consumption has led to the development of the so-called global supply chains (GSC) where the risk and responsibilities related to Human and Labour Rights, faced by companies participating in these production structures, are high. In this sense, a sustainable leading company of its GSC should define what is considered to be its management values in terms of Human Rights as a part of its sustainability management process and create a measure to monitor the respect of those rights in the entire cycle of production. The analysis of the different norms and standards on Human and Labour Rights could help us to structure the theoretical framework on minimum requirements in sectorial rules binding for companies everywhere as an earlier condition for the leadership. The empirical objective will be to determine how GSCs are being managed and how these requirements are implemented by leading companies to transmit their values through the entire supply chain and monitor its activities.

Coffee, tea and fresh fruit will be served.
