Abstract
Legally incorporating sustainability into the purpose and decision-making of companies encounter serious challenges. The governance aim towards a “sustainable forest management” transition is adopted in the Action Plan of Implementing the SGDs by the State Forest Bureau in China. The roles of forest companies in the Oroqin Hunters´ Autonomous Area, Northeast China have been changing from logging to restoring forest. It is vital for understanding the constraints and posibilities of institutionalizing the sustainability by observing and analyzing the behaviors of forest companies among multi stakeholders and the related pluralistic legal frameworks which affect their corporate governance structure and decision-making process.
The extended case study presents the complex of the “sustainable company” context in China and discuss the significant results of the Sustainable Companies Project in the publication Company Law and Sustainablility (CUP 2015).
