Risks of Unsustainability Symposium

Following up on the Academic Workshop on the Financial Risks of Unsustainability, held on 1 December 2020, this Symposium brings together a cross-disciplinary group of scholars to discuss further collaboration. The Symposium is by invitation only.

Background

The risks of climate change are increasingly recognized, as highlighted by the widely-cited Task Force of Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD). However, there are also financial risks of continued pressure on other planetary boundaries, as may be illustrated by the setting up of a Task Force for Nature-Related Financial Disclosures. Further, the risks associated with the exploitation of people and growing inequalities in and between countries need to be integrated.

A comprehensive approach is lacking. Developing a multidisciplinary concept of risk, anchored in sustainability science as well as in finance, law and management, is therefore crucial.
