Through our newsletter series, we aim to give you information about exciting events, new publications and dissemination of our research. In this first newsletter, we present the leadership of our Research Group, we highlight our major upcoming conference, two calls for papers, our latest project ToNoWaste, and we introduce our blog series Blogging for Sustainability, other News, and selected publications by our members.
Some highlights
- Sustainability Law is led by Beate Sjåfjell, who will be the main driving force behind our work on Sustainable Business. Deputy heads are Jukka Mähönen and Eléonore Maitre-Ekern. Jukka leads the work on Sustainable Finance together with Jay Cullen, while Eléonore is developing our expertise on Sustainable Circular Economy. These three themes, which build on knowledge developed through the SMART project, connect directly with each other and are crucial to our Research Group’s aim of developing normative solutions that contribute to global sustainability.
- How can we go beyond the limiting concept of financial risks of climate change to a research-based comprehensive concept of risks of unsustainability? That is the challenge we take on in our Risks of Unsustainability conference 7-8 December this year, and we explore possibilities for operationalising such a research-based concept in finance, accounting, and company law and corporate governance. The conference is hybrid (Oslo and Zoom) and open to all! Do not miss out – register today!
- Two exciting calls for papers! The first is under the auspices of Daughters of Themis: International Network of Female Business Scholars: Intersectionality and Business: Reflections, Challenges, Approaches, with 15 December 2022 as the deadline for submission of abstracts. The second is our call for papers for a Special Issue on Circular Economy and Corporate Sustainability, with 31 January 2023 as the deadline for submission of full papers.
- The new four-year Horizon Europe project Towards a New Zero Food Waste Mindset based on Holistic Management (ToNoWaste) started in September under the leadership of Sustainability Law member Professor María Jesús Muñoz Torres. In Oslo, we have begun the process of selecting a PhD candidate who will also join Sustainability Law.
