Through our newsletter series, we give you information about exciting events, new publications and dissemination of our research. In this newsletter, we highlight two of our upcoming events, and new posts in Blogging for Sustainability, including a call to save an EU directive in jeopardy.
Some highlights
Breaking down horizontal and vertical silos is an important part of the work we do in Sustainability Law. We are therefore pleased to invite you to join us for two silo-breaking events:
- Circular Economy, Corporate Sustainability and EU Law, 29 February, 2-5 pm CET. In this hybrid seminar, we discuss how we can further integrate Circular Economy and Corporate Sustainability, two distinct areas of EU law and policy. We hold this seminar to celebrate the contribution of Dr Eléonore Maitre-Ekern to Sustainability Law, on the last day of her position as postdoctoral scholar in the research group and reaffirm our joint desire to continue working together. Join us – in person or through Zoom!
- Corporate Sustainability, Peace and the Environment, 1 March, 9 am – 12.30 pm CET. This event brings together the international law discourse on environmental peacebuilding and the corporate law and corporate governance stream of research on corporate sustainability. The occasion is a launch of the Research Handbook on International Law and Environmental Peacebuilding, edited by Daniëlla Dam-de Jong and Britta Sjöstedt. Join us – in person or through Zoom!
Our work-in-progress lunch and afternoon series:
- Sustainability Law organises informal one-hour work-in-progress seminars most weeks. The topics range from traditional legal discussions to blue-sky thinking about how to make the world a better place. You are welcome to join us for the 15 February seminar on Corporations as human rights duty bearers: recent developments from the African continent.
- These seminars are always digital or hybrid. Would you like to present? Contact seminars-sustainabilitylaw@jus.uio.no!
Blogging for Sustainability:
- The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive in Jeopardy – Beate Sjåfjell and Jukka Mähönen explain why this matters, why they care, and what will happen without the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. Read and share!
- Blogging for Sustainability is open to all, and we are thrilled with the contributions to our Sustainability Law student series – with contributions from bachelor and master students in our Sustainability Law electives!
- Would you like to be one of our guest bloggers! Please contact Blogging for Sustainability's editorial team at sustainabilityblog@jus.uio.no.
