We have long discussed “digital footprint” and understand that the use of digital devices involves the automatic generation of data that is capable of revealing personal information. Our digital footprints are now everywhere. In addition to the automatically generated data, we also make our personal information available on social media. The combination of digital footprints and information provided on social media can be used to create a comprehensive and detailed picture of each person.

Professor Nigel Bankes from the University of Calgary lectures on the topic of: The Columbia River Treaty - US\Canada, hydro electric power and flood control.

The title of this years memorial lecture, held by Professor Bert-Jaap Koops, is:"Bio-robotics and the survival of the human: on human rights, human enhancement, and (un) average persons."  

Guest Lecture with Professor, Oliver C. Ruppel, Stellenbosch University, South Africa on the role of regional courts for economic  integration, environmental and human rights  protection:  Lessons learnt from the Tribunal of the Southern African  Development Community (SADC)  

Thomas Frøberg, at the Departement of Public and International Law, will defend his thesis "Arguing with legal principles"

The last seminar of the project "The transformation of international Law and Norwegian Sovereignty in 1814", led by professors Ola Mestad and Dag Michalsen (both University of Oslo), will take place on the 3.-4. October in Oslo.

Rozemarijn van der Hilst, at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, will defend her thesis; Putting Privacy to the Test: How Counter-Terrorism Technology is Challenging Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights
