The purpose of the group
The purpose of the group on family and law of succession is scientific development and dissemination of family law, law of succession and guardianship. For many years, the group has arranged two seminars every semester on topics such as new legislation and new judgements from The Supreme Court. These seminars are open for practitioners, and there are usually between 50 and 100 lawyers, judges and other law professionals attending the seminars. The group's members also participate in Nordic, European and global professional networks and conferences within the group's fields of law.
John Asland, chair of the group, is a member of the executive council of the International Society of Family Law (ISFL), editor-in-chief of the Journal of Family Law, Inheritance Law and Child Welfare Law (FAB) and a member of the Legal Education Centre's committee for family, inheritance Law and probate law.
Katrine Kjærheim Fredwall participates in the research network Family Law Europe (FLEUR), is editor of FAB and a member of ISFL.
Duration
The group is established for the period 1 August 2022 to 31 July 2025.
