The Student Inclusion Award

You can now nominate your candidate for the Student Inclusion Award - the nomination deadline is 10 March. 

The award goes to a student at the Faculty of Law who has taken the initiative to counter racism, racial discrimination and intolerance. The student has contributed to countering polarisation and has promoted a conciliatory and respectful tone in a difficult debate. 

The award is presented by Juridisk studentutvalg (JSU) og Mino.Jur on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, 21 March. Image may contain: Font, Electric blue, Logo, Brand, Graphics.

Nomination

Deadline: 10 March

All students at the Faculty of Law may nominate one candidate.

The nomination must contain:  

  • Information about the nominated candidate 
  • The nominatino text, maximum 300 words  

Nominate your candidate 

Examples of relevant actions:  

  • Dissemination online or in actual forums to increase knowledge about racial discrimination (including intersectional discrimination). This can include workshops or meetings to discuss stereotypes, myths, and assumptions. It can also include recognition of one’s own implicit bias, power differences, prejudice, and the role of speech in stigmatization.  

  • Extraordinary service in the legal aid clinics (such as JussBuss and JURK) to contribute to access to justice for minorities and to spread knowledge about rights.

  • Taking initiatives to identify structural discrimination, such as dysfunctional complaint systems. 
  • Taking initiatives to promote diversity within the Faculty and at UiO, for example to improve diversity within education (teaching, class participation, and syllabus). 

  • Countering hate speech against minorities and foreigners.  

  • Promoting engagement and contact between different groups.  

  • Initiating social, academic, or cultural events that promote diversity and inclusion. 

  • Promoting increased support for minority students to improve their inclusion within the Faculty and at UiO
