Wednesday 12 June 2024, Assistant Professor Ezgi Yildiz will present her new book Between Forbearance and Audacity: The European Court of Human Rights and the Norm against Torture. 

Wednesday 5 June 2024, Postdoctoral fellow Nedim Hogic will present on the topic “Anti-corruption sanctions in the aftermath of the Russian aggression against Ukraine”. 

The lunch seminar is part of the IntNatLaw seminar series on sanctions.

On Wednesday 15 May, PhD candidates Ane and Heidi Sydnes Egeland will present on the topic "From individual human rights to general state obligations?". 

Monday 29 April 2024, Professor Andreas Føllesdal will present aspects of his forthcoming book on Subsidiarity and International Law.

Regrettably, our speaker, Raji Sourani, could not make it because of family reasons.

Professor Gentian Zyberi has stepped in and can provide an update for those interested on the situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. He will focus on the cases before the International Court of Justice, the Palestinian application for membership to the UN, and the adverse effects on education for pupils and students of the 200 days of war in Gaza. Various domestic legal processes concerning prosecution of crimes committed in Gaza and the transfer of weapons to Israel will be covered. There will be enough time reserved for a Q&A session.

Wednesday 17 April 2024, Professor Geir Ulfstein will present aspects of his forthcoming book, with the working title "Redressing the balance between international and national law: Deference by international courts and tribunals". 

Wednesday 13 March 2024, PhD candidate Konrad Neugebauer (Potsdam University Law School) will present on the topic "The ICJ Order in South Africa v. Israel - Which Implications for Domestic Judges to avoid Personal Responsibility under International Criminal Law?".

Wednesday 14 February 2024, Assistant Professor Daniel Peat will present his and Associate Professor Tarald Gulseth Berge's draft article "Consenting to comply? Does uncontested jurisdiction affect compliance in ISDS cases?"

Wednesday, 17 January 2024, Professor Gentian Zyberi will present his forthcoming book chapter on the Protection of persons at sea from the perspective of the UN human rights treaty bodies (and the Special Procedures). 

On Wednesday 6 December, Tomas Midttun Tobiassen will present his PhD project on the legal implications of the 2014 reform of the Norwegian Constitution.

On 22 November 2023, Gunnar M. Ekeløve-Slydal (The Norwegian Helsinki Committee) and Erlend Bollman Bjørtvedt (Corisk) will present the newly published report "The Russia sanctions as a human rights instrument: Violations of export controls regarding war-critical goods to Russia".

On 16 - 17 November 2023, the academic network addressing the Influence of International Law on National Law (IntNatLaw) is hosting its opening conference "Beyond monism and dualism: The relationship between international and national law in the 21^st century". The conference will explore this topic from an international and a Nordic perspective. 

Friday 10 November, the Research Group on International Law will host a workshop on independence and impartiality of international adjudicators.

Vi inviterer til boksamtale med Astrid Iversen, om statlige gjeldskriser og kreditorrettigheter i forbindelse med restrukturering av statsgjeld. Hun vil presentere boka Intercreditor Equity in Sovereign Debt Restructuring (OUP, 2023). Professor Ivar Alvik, Nordisk institutt for sjørett og Margrethe B Christoffersen, Institutt for privatrett, vil bidra med forberedte kommentarer.
