The personal data transfer to China in Norwegian Corporations

In the recent years we have seen a considerable increase of the trade between Norway and China. So many Norwegian companies have come to China or are doing business with Chinese companies. Hence there is also an increased amount of personal data being transferred to China for various reasons. The enactment of Norwegian Personal Data Act has nevertheless encumbered the ability of companies to process and move the personal data they collect. Norwegian companies today confront legal challenges when they seek to transfer personal data between Norway and China. The legal Challenges faces are perhaps great as they relate to multinational or global companies, many of which have subsidiaries or offices in China. However knowledge about the practice of the transfer of personal data to China according to the Norwegian Personal Data Act is sparse. My main focus will be on how the Norwegian companies deal with these legal challenges in everyday practice. What are the nature of problems and the status of potential solutions in practice? The central aspect will be the Norwegian companies experiences with the personal data transfer.
