Short abstract:
The recent financial crisis revealed how inaccurate credit ratings affected financial markets and introduced systemic risk into the financial system. Multiple factors have been responsible for inaccurate ratings. Financial regulation and supervision have taken centre stage in order to tackle the flaws of rating activities. The lecture highlights recent developments of the European model of regulating and supervising credit rating agencies from the legal perspective.
