The term "Big Data" is gradually monopolizing the discussions about the future of information processing both on the economic and on the legal level. The three "Vs" standing for Volume, Variety and Velocity have become an easily recognisable model for many companies which are rapidly adopting such data processing applications.
At the same time the European legislator is already since 2012 trying to adopt the Data Protection legislative framework. This presentation will try to explore the interplay between the "Big Data" revolution in data processing with the ongoing EU Data Protection Law reform, focusing on certain aspects that seem to be particularly important for the future
