Language Technology

Tuesday Coffee Seminar

The seminar is open for everyone, and there is no registration.

Language technology (LT) has stepped out of the laboratory and into our daily lives; we talk to our phones and to our cars. LT is used to mine texts and the internet; to propose our daily reads, to poll our opinions, or to manipulate elections.

In this talk, Jan Tore Lønning will present some of the recent developments in AI and machine learning in general — and LT in particular — which has enabled this development. He will also briefly consider some possible applications in the legal domain.

Lecturer:

Jan Tore Lønning, Professor in the Department of Informatics at UiO, former Professor in the Department of Linguistics at UiO.
