About the project

Historical research on crime, criminal law and criminology has been conducted for a number of years in various academic disciplines in Scandinavia, however there has not existed an interdisciplinary meeting place for the exchange of research.

Crime, Criminal Law and Criminology in History Network (CCCH) is an interdisciplinary forum for scholars, predominantly from the Nordic countries but also from the rest of the world.

Fields of interests for the CCCH; the history of the prison institutions, social work, police, criminal law, the criminal justice system and the discipline of criminology.

Objectives

CCCH holds a seminar every second year/third year resulting in publications in the field of Historical Criminology.

Results

The First CCCH Seminar resulted in a special issue of Journal of Scandinavian Studies in Criminology and Crime Prevention. Papers presented at the Second CCCH Seminar was published in 2014 in a special issue of Retfærd - Nordic Journal of Law and Justice.

 

Financing

The CCCH has received funding from the Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology and the University of Oslo.
