Workshop: Taking Care of Nature and the Natural: Investigating the Specificities of Care in Human-Nature Relationships

Workshop organized by Kultrans. According to the organizers this workshop seeks to engage with the concept of care in studies of humans’ complex and “imperfect living practices” with nature and the natural.

The workshop invites historical and contemporary studies of care practices in relation to these topics. Relevant questions are:

  • How is nature or the natural enacted in care practices?
  • What are the “goods” and “bads” of care practices, and how are they performed?
  • What are the relationships between care, skills/expertise, and quality?
  • What are the relationships between care and technologies of care?

- Jeannette Pols, Senior Researcher in the Medical Ethics Section of the Department of General Practice of the University of Amsterdam.
- Vicky Singleton, Senior Lecturer, Director of Gender and Women's Studies, University of Lancaster
