Education law

Education law focuses on a variety of issues at all stages of education. It presents questions related to kindergarten, primary and lower secondary school, upper secondary school, university and university college as well as to training courses undertaken at the workplace and in the business sector. These questions are linked to both public and private training courses, as well as to the legal aspects of home education.  

Overview of subject area

Education is a fundamental prerequisite for enabling the individual to participate and safeguard his/her interests in a modern democratic society. It is a basic requirement for democracy, development and welfare in society and in the business sector.

Education law deals with topics such as the right to education, and the expectations and requirements of the various parties in respect of education. It also discusses the governance and administration of educational activities by school owners and school leaders, and the control exercised through supervisory schemes as well as the rights of employees in educational institutions.
