About

Patricia Kameri Mbote is the Director of the Law Division, of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). She was professor and Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Nairobi. Her scholarship cuts across areas like public international law, environment and natural resources law and policy, climate change law and policy,  human rights, women's rights, intellectual property rights, biotechnology policy and law and economic law.

She is co-editor of the book Water is life: Women’s human rights in  national and local water governance in Southern and Eastern Africa.

She  was awarded an honorary degree in law by the University of Oslo (UiO) in 2017 for her work in the intersection of women’s law and environmental law.
