Long-term future of the European Court of Human Rights: Proceedings are online

The Council of Europe published all speeches of the MultiRights annual conference 2014. The Council's intergovernmental group of reform will use these proceedings in its future work on the future of the human rights court.

On 7-8 April 2014, MultiRights organised its annual conference under the auspices of the Council of Europe.

The conference brought together a varied group of actors who debated scenarios for the future of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR):

  • Human rights scholars,
  • ECtHR and domestic judges
  • Governmental experts from all 47 Council of Europe member States
  • NGO representatives
  • Representatives from other Council of Europe bodies.
