Professor of Law, University of Copenhagen

Mette Hartlev is professor of health law at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen and the head of the research centre WELMA, which is concerned with legal studies in welfare and market integration. She has a PhD in Law and LL.D from the University of Copenhagen. Her research interests focus on health law (including public health law), patient’s rights, health and human rights, access to health care services, biomedical research, protection of vulnerable patients, and law, science and technology studies. She has published extensively on these issues and has participated in several research projects funded by the EU-Commission and national research foundations. Currently, she is involved in a cross-disciplinary research project on Governing Obesity and cross-disciplinary project on the Genomic History of Denmark. She is a member of the editorial board of European Journal of Health Law and the chair of the management board for the Danish Anti Doping Agency and the vice chair of the Danish National Committee of Research Ethics. Previously she has been a vice chair of the Danish Council of Ethics and member of the Nordic Committee on Bioethics.
