Instituttlunsj: Retten til solidaritet

Cecilia Bailliet will present the revised Draft Declaration on Human Rights and International Solidarity (see attachment, the Declaration is in the Annex). Solidarity is a third generation right, similar to the right to development, the right to peace, and the right to a clean, healthy environment.  Solidarity is considered the vehicle for 21st Century Multilateralism as it promotes transnational emancipatory networks for communication of human rights and environmental protection concerns.  However, dilemmas arise from the phenomenon of polarization, fragmentation, decoupling, and regionalism within and between states. How do we counter negative solidarity that is exclusionary? Bailliet served as the Chair of the Expert Advisory Group which drafted the revision.
