Silke Goldberg, new professor II at the Department of Energy and Resources Law

The Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law of the University of Oslo, is pleased to welcome Silke Goldberg as new Associate Professor II, attached to the Department of Energy and Resources Law.

Silke Goldberg is a renowned scholar within the field of European energy and climate law and policy. She has more than 20 years of sector experience and an international background from Germany, the Netherlands, France and the UK. She is the author of many publications in the field and is about to release a timely book on the consequences of Brexit within the energy sector.

Ranked as a 'leading individual' in the Legal 500, Silke Goldberg is a practicing lawyer in the UK, London, where she is a partner in the energy and infrastructure practice of Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF). Silke is the climate change lead and Global Chair of HSF's ESG practice. Her academic career includes a honorary professorship at Queen Mary University in London, where she is convenor for LLM modules on international energy governance and regulation. She is also visiting professor at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, which is a close university partner to the University of Oslo.

As Associate Professor at the University of Oslo, Silke Goldberg will be involved in the Green Platform Ocean Grid project, in close cooperation with Professor Catherine Banet and a group of researchers at the Institute. The overall objective for the project is to develop new technology, knowledge and solutions to enable profitable development of offshore wind – both bottom-fixed and floating – in Norway. The University of Oslo is a research partner in the project where the Department of Energy and Resources Law is responsible for conducting legal research and developing recommendations for improved regulatory conditions and best practices of offshore grid. The ultimate objective of the project is to develop a Norwegian regulatory model for offshore wind and grid development.
