The purpose of the workshop was to inspire more Chinese university teachers to include gender equality issues in their teaching activities. Focus was on discrimination issues and on discussions of how to teach these issues from a human rights perspective. Some of the top experts on non-discrimination issues in China participated in the workshop and they shared their knowledge and their experiences in teaching gender and human rights as well as their experiences in dealing with legal non-discrimination and harassment issues in China.
The workshop is part of a larger five-year cooperation programme on gender and human rights between the NCHR, the CUPL and the Swedish Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights (RWI). The NCHR hopes to continue to contribute to increased knowledge about gender and human rights issues among Chinese teachers also in the future
