The one-week training workshop is for participants from the ASEAN countries only and will include regional perspectives, specifically relevant to the ASEAN area. It is an opportunity to develop a unique, practitioner’s insight into the functioning of United Nations (UN) human rights institutions based in Geneva through a mixture of lectures and attendance at live Universal Periodic Review (UPR) and UN Treaty Body sessions.

The ultimate aim is to increase the participants capacity in contributing to constructive involvement with human rights discourse through teaching-learning activities, academic research, and other forms of engagement.

Increasing capacity, building networks

The training is specifically designed for academics and educators who are involved in university-level teaching or other education programs on Human Rights, and ideally UN Human Rights Mechanism in particular.

Not only will this important opportunity add to the capacity of human rights educators and ensure their in-depth knowledge on UN human rights mechanisms, but the training will also provide the opportunity to build a network between the participants, thus bolstering their contribution to constructive human rights discourse within the academic and public spheres.

There will be a rich selection of speakers and facilitators with high levels of expertise on their respective topics. The programme for 2022 is currently under development. In the meanwhile, please refer to the programme for the 2019 training
