Supply Chain Due Diligence Legislations seminar

On June 15 2022, the Director of the NCHR Professor Bård A. Andreassen spoke about the Norwegian Corporate Transparency Act during an International seminar about Supply Chain Due Diligence Legislations: Trends and Challenges.

The online seminar was hosted by NCHR’s partner at the Human Rights Research Center of Nankai University. The seminar was co-organised with China National Textile and Apparel Council and China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters. The seminar brought together well-known scholars and industry experts from China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Chile and other countries and regions. 

Professor Bård A. Andreassen presented the Norwegian Transparency Act and Mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence in the first session on Development in Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence at the International Level. He introduced about the new Norwegian law which will enter into force on 1 July 2022. He also analyzed and commented on the potential extraterritorial impact and influence of the law on fundamental human rights and decent working conditions.

The seminar attracted many representatives from Chinese and foreign business circles, academia and industry organizations and more than 1,800 people watched the seminar in real time. For the first time in China, a dialogue and exchange platform between academia and the industry has been established on these issues.
