Monday was the first day of the 11th UN Mechanisms workshop in Geneva, this year gathering participants from the ASEAN region.

Each spring semester, students on the Master's programme 'The Theory and Practice of Human Rights' have the possibility to undertake internships in various organisations through partnerships established over several years. Student internships are an integral part of the course 'Human Rights in Practice,' which aims to give students practical hands-on experience of human rights-related work. 

At a recent event hosted by the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) on May 22, 2024, students and graduates had the opportunity to connect with esteemed alumni from the centre.

An event to celebrate a new book and to honour the retirement of Professor emeritus Bård Anders Andreassen, a longstanding NCHR professor and co-editor of the book.

Through a partnership with the Tolerance and Diversity Institute and the UNDP in Georgia, the Oslo Coalition on Freedom of Religion or Belief, NCHR is organizing a blended learning course on national and international standards and mechanisms for the protection of freedom of religion or belief as a fundamental human right.

Limitations of the regime for "Ethical Health Worker Migration" explored in a seminar

The high-level side-event hosted by the Permanent Mission of Norway highlighted the impact of investigative interviewing methods on criminal justice outcomes during the UN’s principal policy-making body within the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.

Together with partners in Thailand, the NCHR led a side-event during the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice focusing on lessons learned at country-level implementation of the investigative interview methodology. Important insights were also shared by partners in Brazil and Ghana.

Commemorating the Graduating Class 2022-2024 of the Master Program in Theory and Practice of Human Rights

Opened by Suriname's Minister of Justice & Police, Kenneth Amoksi, a three-day training in Investigative interviewing was organized by the Convention against Torture Initiative (CTI) in collaboration with the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) and CogJus, Brazil.

"Bitter Legacy: State Impunity in the Northern Ireland Conflict," written by a panel of international human rights experts is launched in Belfast 29 April 2024.

The first "One UN" manual on criminal investigation, endorsed by three major United Nations organisations, is now published.

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) conducted a specialized workshop for investigation staff together with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), focusing on enhancing their skills in conducting ethical and effective investigations and interviews.

The Norwegian Center for Human Rights has made available grants for visiting researchers from other academic institutions

NCHR and our partner, the Geneva Academy (GA), will hold the eleventh Training Workshop on UN Human Rights Mechanisms on 24-28 June in Geneva, Switzerland. This workshop is for participants from selected Asian countries only and will include regional perspectives.

Participants from law enforcement, prosecution, and inspector services from the Vest-Balkans, Moldova and Ukraine developed strategies for more human rights compliant and evidence-based interviewing practices during a regional workshop hosted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) together with NCHR.

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) is excited to join in the celebration of International Day of Education 2024. In Southeast Asia, strengthening Human Rights Education with partners has been fruitful.
