Following the recent introduction of controversial legacy proposals by the British Government, an International Expert Panel on Impunity has been convened by the Norwegian Center for Human Rights at the request of the Committee on the Administration of Justice and the Pat Finucane Centre.

June 7th to 10th 2022, NCHR conducted in-person training on investigative interviewing with Thai police and prosecutors. This is the first training of its kind carried out based on the Méndez Principles. During the week, NCHR conducted trainings and ran practical exercises with the Royal Thai Police Cadet Academy, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), and the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand (OAG).

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) and our partner, the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (GA), will hold the eighth Training Workshop on UN Human Rights Mechanisms on 3.-7.- October 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland. This workshop is for participants from the MENA countries only and will include regional perspectives.

July 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland. We now welcome applications from our partner countries in the ASEAN region.

The theme for the International Women’s Day this year is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. In 2022 the NCHR is developing a pilot project on gender equality, human rights and climate change to raise awareness about these issues.

On the 7th December the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights hosted the Annual seminar on business and human rights as a part of the Oslo Peace Days. The annual seminar on business and human rights gives an opportunity for all stakeholders to come together and discuss the business and human rights field. This year, the panel was represented by academia, government, and civil society.

The training was held electronically and attended by 29 Indonesian judges. It started on the 24th of November and went over three weeks, with two sessions per week. The training was organised by the NCHR in cooperation with LeIP (the Indonesian Institute for and Independent Judiciary) and the Indonesian Supreme Court.

On 8.-12. November, a training workshop on the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Mechanisms took place in Geneva, Switzerland. Over the week, five participants from Thailand deepened their knowledge of the UN Human Rights Mechanisms, focusing on the Universal Periodic Review.

In cooperation with the ASEAN University Network-Human Rights Education (AUN-HRE), the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) supported the 5th Regional Network Meeting on Human Rights Education. In total 30 university lecturers from Southeast and Northeast Asia participated this virtual meeting from 30 November - 3 December 2021.

The training workshop on the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Mechanisms took place digitally on 1. - 5. November. For the second time, academics from China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam participated on Zoom, due to the on-going pandemic.
