Vi inviterer til seminar om akademisk frihet. Menneskerettighetsforkjemperen Istar Gözaydin som mottok UiOs menneskerettighetspris 2017 har endelig fått lov til å reise ut av Tyrkia og kommer for å holde sitt foredrag "Academic Freedom?". UiO har tatt imot forskere gjennom Scholars at Risk (SAR) i ti år og markerer dette med foredrag og paneldebatt.

Public lectures and discussion. The seminar is arranged on the occasion of the visit of an Indonesian interfaith delegation to Norway, in cooperation between the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and the Council of Religious and Life-Stance Communities.

Ludovica Chiussi avholder prøveforelesning over oppgitt emne: The proposed UN treaty on transnational corporations and human rights: progress or confusion?

Nils Butenschøn retires from his position as Professor at the NCHR on first of July this year. The seminar is organised around central topics in Butenschøn’s academic works over the past 45 years: Nationality conflicts, models of power sharing in deeply divided societies, and the study of citizenship and human rights as a basis for legitimate state authority. Empirically, most of the works, including the five books Butenschøn has published in the last decade, have focused on the Middle East and the region’s modern political history.

Nils Butenschøn fratrer sin stilling som professor ved SMR 1. juli i år. Seminaret blir organisert rundt sentrale tema i Butenschøns akademiske arbeider de siste 45 år: Nasjonalitetskonflikter, modeller for maktdeling i dypt splittede samfunn, og studiet av statsborgerskap og menneskerettigheter som grunnlag for legitim statsmakt. Empirisk har de fleste arbeidene, inkludert fem bøker som han har fått utgitt det siste tiåret, fokusert på Midtøsten og regionens moderne politiske historie.
