Vulnerability in the Robot Society (VIROS) Symposium 2022

This symposium explores cutting-edge regulatory challenges with respect to managing issues arising from the deployment of ‘smart’ robotics. The symposium is held under the aegis of the research project ‘Vulnerability in the Robot Society’ (VIROS).

The VIROS project at the University invites researchers, policy-makers and the public to its 2022 symposium. The event is part of Oslo Innovation Week.

The full program can be found here, and some of the highlights are:

  • Key-notes by Professor Fumio Shimpo, Japan, on legal issues of cybernetic avatars; and Professor Praminda Caleb-Solly, University of Nottingham on understanding gaps for healthcare professionals working alongside physically assistive robots (online presentation).
  • Discussion of technical, legal and ethical issues related to smart robotics, especially when used in the context of health care.

The project is run by the Norwegian Research Center for Computers and Law (NRCCL) in collaboration with the ROBIN group.
