A memorial seminar in honour of his contribution to scholarship and activism was organised by the Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law at Gamle Festsal, Domus Academica, 2. Dec, 2021.
Amongst colleagues from the department and other academic institutions, Professor Kristin Bergtora Sandvik spoke on "Mathiesen as inspiration: A socio-legal perspective on the aftermath of terror".
