About the topic and the speaker:

On 23 January, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the reform of the European Union’s electricity market design. The set objectives for the reform are to better protect consumers from excessive price volatility, support their access to secure energy from clean sources, and make the market more resilient. Based on the consultation outcomes, the European Commission is expected to put forward concrete proposals in March 2023.

But what to expect exactly from this speedy reform? Will it be concentrated on short-term solutions with Member States in the driven seat, or long-term structural changes to fit a climate neutral energy system in a European perspective?

During this webinar, Professor Nils-Henrik M von der Fehr and Professor Catherine Banet (University of Oslo) will present and discuss the main elements of the consultation document and put them in perspective with the list of 72 recommendations developed in a recent report they co-authored. The webinar will be the opportunities to share views among attendees about the upcoming reform.
